The fortress of Arin-berd was
the residence of the Uratu King Argishti I who in 782 B.C. ordered the
foundation of the new capital of Erebouni, the present-day
Yerevan, capital of Armenia. Erebouni was built on a strategic position
view clear view over the surroundings and the Ararat Plain, i.e. an
important hub in the Armenian Highland.
